Frequently asked questions.

The item I want shows only one in stock. What if I want more?

Because the majority of our products are hand-crafted, most are truly one-of-a-kind. That can be a great thing, but if you need more than one…not so much! Please use the contact page to get in touch and, depending on availability of materials and your deadline, we’ll do everything we can to help. Happy you = happy us.

Do you accept custom orders?

That’s like asking if we like ice cream in the summertime…heck yeah, we sure do!

Please use the contact page to get in touch and we’ll work with you to come up with something really special. Please note our payment policy on custom orders:

Once all order details (design, price, quantity, timeline, etc.) are agreed upon by you and 62threadsmercantile, a deposit equal to 50% of the order purchase price (excluding applicable tax and shipping) is due at the time the order is placed and before fulfillment of your order can begin. The balance of the order amount (including tax and shipping) is due once your order is finished and before the order ships.

How long will it take before my order is shipped?

For items that are purchased from inventory (i.e., already made and in stock), orders are shipped in 1-2 business days.

For custom orders, the fulfillment time will vary depending on availability of materials and labor involved. The timeline will be discussed and agreed upon before your custom order is placed.

Are your hand-crafted products made from all new materials? And what does “embellished” mean?

So glad you asked, because this can get confusing! Unless otherwise noted in the product description, hand-crafted products are made from new materials. If not made from new materials, a product’s description will have words like “upcycled” or “vintage” to describe the materials used to create it. “Embellished” means we’ve added something to an existing product. The Valentine Jeans are a great example of this type of product. We didn’t make the basic jeans, we made them unique and adorable by adding fabric and ribbon accents, some hand-embroidery, buttons, etc. In this example, the jeans were actually purchased new before being embellished, but a product might be a found treasure that we upcycled and embellished. Always refer to the product description, and if you’re ever in doubt don’t hesitate to ask - that’s why we’re here! Well, that and to make great stuff for you.

What’s the deal with the non-handmade stuff?

We carefully curate an interesting collection of items for resale here. Most of these items are vintage-era and can range from china, ceramic and pottery pieces to linens and the like. Whenever possible, the product descriptions and photos for these types of items will include any provenance and maker markings that we have, particularly for collectible items. We are always adding pieces we’ve come across that complement our design aesthetic, and that we think our customers will also love.

Speaking of “vintage”, I hear that word thrown around a lot to describe everything from Pyrex to quilts to red wines. What does it mean exactly?

Ah yes, the good ‘ole vintage descriptor. We’re not talking wines here, because vintage in the winemaking world is a whole ‘nother thing altogether.

In fashion and design, the word vintage (much like antique) has turned into a popular marketing catch-all. Our interpretation is that there are two kinds of vintage: one, an item that is truly vintage means the item is both from a past era (generally at least 25 years ago) and is of superior quality; secondly, some pieces fall into the vintage-style category, meaning the item is new, but is reflective of a style that was popular in a past era such as Art Deco (1920’s), Great Depression/WW II era (30’s and 40's), Mid-Century (50's and 60's) and so on. And let’s not forget the whole shabby chic/English cottage phenomenon of the late 90’s / early 2000’s! Gosh, where would the big-box stores be today without having ridden that revenue stream?

Because some of our products do indeed contain true vintage materials, we take care to note these details in the product description where applicable. Regardless of age, we use only high-quality materials in our hand-crafted products; they’re made to last.

Do you sell and ship to customers outside of the United States?

The short answer is sadly, no - not yet. We hope to be able to make our cool stuff available to people around the globe in the near future, and as soon as we get the logistics of doing so up and running, we’ll make a splash about it! If you would like for us to notify you by email when sales and shipping outside of the U.S. is available, please drop a note via the contact page and we’ll be sure to let you know. And thanks for your patience. You’re awesome like that ❤️
