Vintage Tuscan China Plates - Set of 3
Showcasing one of my Grandmother Ruth’s favorite flowers - the delicate Pansy in shades of purple and yellow - these lovely vintage plates are Fine English Bone China. While the pattern name appears to be only “TUSC9649”, we know that they were produced sometime in the 1940s - mid 1960s, as the hallmark shows “Tuscan Fine China” vs. “Royal Tuscan”. Tuscan Fine China was founded in 1878 in Staffordshire, England. The company was acquired by Wedgwood in 1967; Wedgewood then added the name “Royal” as a prefix, and the Tuscan name eventually phased out.
The painted flowers and gold gilt edging on this lovely trio remain bright and pretty, with no chips, cracks or glazes. Each plate bears the hallmark shown in the photos, along with a small number painted in gold gilt.
These gorgeous plates are a great addition to any china collection. In a grouping of three, they would look especially pretty on display. Also great for using as part of a mix-and-match-china theme for wedding receptions or other formal events. You could even use for your own humble dinner to cheer up a rainy Tuesday, dining pinky up of course!
